Welcome to the mind of Kelly Shearing.
Sorry in advance?
Now I know that you have yet to experience the fun world of Elaine in the Flight of the Witch, but every author has their beginning. I am no different here. This story actually began with the creation of a whole other one way back in freshman year of high school (I refuse to tell you how long ago that was). Writing a whole book when you're 14 is a big accomplishment. Sure, the writing might be crap but really the birth of the idea is what really matters here.

Why is it taking me ages to start the Shifter universe?
Eh, that's a fair question. In part, it's because life gets busy between the school runs, day job, and just overall living every day. Another part is that I literally write for a living...so by the end of the day I don't even want to look at a computer screen, much less write anything. A third—and perhaps the most important—I was (and still kind of am) scared about sharing a little part of the me with the rest of the world. Sure, being a professional writer has helped me cure a lot of that fear but it's still there hiding away in the corner of my minds.
But, new things in life are scary right? Fear shouldn't be what stops people. It should motivate them to conquer (or at least cope with it) to get through it. So, while the universe is long overdue, it's at least strongly in the works.
Why am I writing Elaine's story first?
Remember when I said that Elaine's story began with a whole different book? So, why the heck am I not writing that book instead? It's there in the cobwebs in my mind, but Elaine's character really spoke to me. I see parts of me in her, and her story just was itching at my finger tips to get out. And here we are, working on getting her story to you. All in due time, of course.
Why did you publish Perfectly Betrayed first?
Well, as it so happens, Perfectly Betrayed was done first. It is the brain child of my father's and I helped to bring it to life. Retirement has a funny way of giving you ample time to do things, and this is what he did. So, while I am pounding away at the keyboard to try and get Elaine's story down, Jeni and Jax came to life and was ready to share with the world.
Speaking of Perfectly Betrayed, if you haven't yet explored Jeni and Jax's world, what in the world are you waiting for? Find it now on Amazon (along with more of the series (Perfectly Targeted, Perfectly United, and Perfectly Traumatized). And if you can't hardly wait to dive into the Shifter world, subscribe now to get updates on new releases and when I share little tidbits of my brain with the rest of you. Welcome to the Shearing Club.
